Global sysops

No I don't think so, but I am not sure if Global administrators do have administrator rights on wikidata, because wikidata does not fulfill the rights on meta:Global_sysops for Global administrators. Therfor I would preffer to delete them. They have no special rights on Wikidata so why should we mark them as (global but not on wikidata) administrators? --Sk!d (talk) 12:35, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

If a user is both admin and global sysop, he or she won't have more permissions than just a normal admin. Stewards do have more rights such as desysop etc. Regards --Iste (D) 10:34, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

"Global sysop" is the term which is normally used in English, see also the Global sysops project page on Meta. I think the goal of this different name is to underline that the role of a Global sysop is different than the role of a local admin, as Global sysops are not allowed to make special editorial decisions. Commons admins have also no extra permissions on dewiki and are marked anyway. And it might be interesting to see if an admin would lose his tools after getting locally desysopped. It is just confusing to see a GS beside anotherone without local privileges who isn't marked as a GS. I first thought they were forgotten or have lost access before I saw this discussion. Session storage

It is better for maintainability to load data like lists of admins and similar into session storage and then reuse them from storage if they already are loaded. "Staff" is ambigous: There're WMDE staff and WMF staff, but only WMDE staff is marked. WMF staff also has administrator (and even bureaucrat) rights, and they sometimes use it: see Special:Log/Reedy and Special:Log/Jdforrester (WMF). The problem is that WMF staff accounts are completely irrelvant to our wiki. They are not permitted to use any of their global tools here (Reedy was an exception as he created the wiki and just did some clean-up afterwards, far before we even got our first local admins) and also WMDE staff is not marked because they are employed by WMDE, but rather because of their role as Wikidata developers, thus also Wikidata staff. Wrong Permissions

This is just a placeholder. "Xxx" and "Yyy" are dummy usernames. The code using them is out-commented, so it is not used and won't mark the (possibly existing) users "xxx" and "Yyy" as checkusers. Removing it completely would not change the function of the script in any way. The benefit of having it is simply that we could easily mark checkusers (by removing the comments and replacing the dummy usernames) as soon as we have some here. --YMS (talk) 08:57, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

1. The list of staffs are currently inaccurate. Abraham Taherivand, Jonas Kress are no longer in Wikidata staff user group.
2. All staffs are indicated by "(WMDE)" in usernames, and all WMDE members may (though not must) hold the right for development use, according to Wikidata:Administrators.
3. The word "staff" is ambigous which may also mean WMF staffs.

The tag is there to indicate which users are member of the 'wikidata-staff' user group (see Special:UserList/wikidata-staff, where Jonas Kress (WMDE) is part of) and thereby have access to extended user rights. "A" or "B" as well could mean different things than "administrator" or "bureaucrat", so possible ambiguity is a non-argument. According to Wikidata:Administrators#Other_accounts_with_administrative_access, To facilitate the development of Wikidata, some Wikimedia Deutschland staff members technically hold full administrator access.
