Use with value mayor (Q30185) ?

edit

The sample above suggests that this should be used with items for specific offices. However, currently there are about 1600 uses with mayor (Q30185). --- Jura 10:17, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I changed the value type constraint form "subclass" to "instance" to match the sample. --- Jura 07:11, 15 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
This property now has a 94.6% violation rate. Since 1955 of the 2234 uses have either mayor (Q30185) or barangay captain (Q7260481), wouldn't it be better to change the sample? As I recall, that's what was done with other properties in a similar state. Popcorndude (talk) 14:30, 16 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
The numbers don't matter that much. It's fairly easy to change them in one run.
The question is if it's useful to have mayor (Q30185) or not. Personally, I think it's too generic. barangay captain (Q7260481) could work. --- Jura 15:53, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
A related question is what we should do when there is more than one person in this position and they do not have the same title. -- Innocent bystander (talk) 15:09, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Chronologically or concurrently? --- Jura 15:14, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Concurrently! -- Innocent bystander (talk) 15:20, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
An example, the Municipality I live in has one "kommunalråd", Jan Sahlén, who represents the majority and work full time as politician. There is also an "oppositionsråd", Bertil Böhlin, who represents (at least parts of) the minority and work (I think) part time. There can be several office holders who represents the majority and several who represents the minority, it depends on the work load. Sometimes several can have the same title and sometimes they all have unique titles. The prime office is actually the "chairman of the Municipal board", and (s)he is also often "kommunalråd". -- Innocent bystander (talk) 15:32, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
The conclusion might be that there is no single head, but a sort of directory that could be listed instead of a single position. Somehow it seems odd the one would get the title "leader of the opposition" and then jointly govern ;) --- Jura 15:42, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
"jointly government" is the common principle in local administration in Sweden (Q34). The municipal board, which is the local version of the national goverment, normally have members from all non-extremist parties. (In Stockholm SD is probably excluded since they are considered as extremists and FI is excluded since they are new and small.) Your conclusion is probably correct. And you can see how it works in Stockholm here. 8 "borgarråd" from the majority have each one specific area of responsibility (rotel). 4 "oppositionsborgarråd" represents the minority. A 13th person representing FI (part of the majority I think) is also full time politician, with responibility for "human rights", but she is not listed as borgarråd. -- Innocent bystander (talk) 08:13, 12 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
