snatched from mother's side
Finally Ibonia is born, but not as ordinary people are. His story denies that female genitals can be the organ of birth: he is "snatched from his mother's side." This euphemism of Thompson's (motif A511.1) is not much more literal than Macduff's assertion that he "was from his mother's womb / Untimely nipped" (Macbeth 5.8.15-16). (English)

[...] he is "snatched from his mother's side." This euphemism of Thompson's (motif A511.1) is not much more literal than Macduff's assertion that he "was from his mother's womb / Untimely nipped" (Macbeth 5.8.15-16). Both are as allusive as the modern phrase "Caesarian section." (English)
