"Aviation incident" and "aviation accident" are each a subclass of aviation occurrence. An "incident" (in the aviation context) is defined by ICAO as an occurrence, other than an accident, associated with the operation of an aircraft which affects or could affect the safety of operation. I'm going to create an "aviation incident" subclass of aviation occurrence, which will mean we ultimately mirror the ICAO definitions: Aviation accidents and aviation incidents are both subclasses of aviation occurrences.
