- The Edit-a-thon Dashboard: What is it? How do I join it? Where is it?
- What: The Dashboard is a course/workshop/edit-a-thon management platform. It works with both Wikipedia and Wikidata. It neatly tracks edits for the duration of a workshop or program. It also can contain trainings, resources, and tips. It is customizable and presents data that may be otherwise difficult to find

The Project edit
- What do I edit?
- For this program we are utilizing a data set to create and edit items for schools and school buildings in Indiana and Michigan. However, if you are from another area and would like to include schools from your region, please do.
- This list of MI and IN school districts and schools were obtained mainly from NCES.
- One-room schoolhouse data can be found with MORSA; CSAA.

Data Models edit
A data model is a set of common properties we use to describe things on Wikidata. Data models are not prescriptive. Often the best way to learn how to model items is to look at existing well-modeled items.
Properties edit
Wikidata calls predicates properties. Properties are relationships that describe the connection between items (subjects) and their values (objects). Listed below are some commonly used properties for describing authors and books.
Educational Institutions Properties edit
- educational institution (Q2385804): institution that provides education
- school (Q3914): institution for the education of students by teachers
- school district (Q398141): special-purpose district for local public primary and secondary schools
- school district in the United States (Q15726209): single-purpose entity within local government responsible for providing free education to all children living within their boundary and enforcing their required attendance
Types of educational institutions, examples:
- elementary school (Q20950067): school for students at the ages of 3–12 to receive primary education
- middle school (Q149566): school which children attend between primary school and secondary school
- high school (Q9826): institution which provides all or part of secondary education
- alternative school (Q359674): type of school
- college (Q189004): educational institution, varying in level from country to country
- community college (Q1336920): type of educational institution
- public educational institution (Q23002037): educational institution whose programs and activities are operated by publicly elected or appointed school officials and which is supported primarily by public funds
- private educational institution (Q23002042): educational institution not primarily funded by public means
School Buildings Properties edit
A school building, former school building, schoolhouse, or one-room schoolhouse is a structure where the main use is or was education.
- school building (Q1244442): individual buildings or groups of buildings designed or used as places of instruction
- one-room school (Q1308121): small rural school in which students of different ages are mixed in a single classroom

Connecting to Wikimedia Commons edit
By using the property (P18) Image, you can add an image from Wikimedia Commons to your Wikidata item. Inversely, you can add the Wikidata item as structured data to the Wikimedia Commons image. Use "depicts" and use the Q# for them Wikidata item the image depicts.
