Wikidata:WikiProject Emoji
WikiProject Emoji is a WikiProject tasked with creating and maintaining items for emoji (Q1049294).
There is a lot of emoji information on Wikidata, but we can go even further.
Tasks edit
- Add depicts (P180) statements to emoji items
- Add represents (P1268) statements for non-literal meaning
- Add Commons images to emoji items
- Create and update emoji items as Unicode versions are released
- Create items for popular emoji sets (i.e. Apple Color Emoji (Q4781145), Noto Emoji (Q75862544))
- Create emoji-related lexemes
- Fill in blanks in the various subpage lists
Notability edit
All emoji in the Unicode Standard are arguably notable according to Wikidata:Notability because they are "clearly identifiable conceptual ... entit[ies] that can be described using serious and publicly available references", the Unicode standard being a serious source and present on nearly all modern operating systems. They also all have at least an Emojipedia ID, which is a leading emoji reference and a member of the Unicode Consortium.
While not contributing towards notability, many emoji also have a Commons category with multiple images and a redirect page on English Wikipedia.
