Wikidata:WikiProject PCC Wikidata Pilot/Participants/University of Delaware

Background edit

The purpose of the University of Delaware's involvement in the PCC/Wikidata Pilot project will be to highlight access points, particularly of persons, which are otherwise less accessible due to traditional cataloging priorities and/or credibility requirements for other Wiki projects, such as Wikipedia.

Aim and Scope edit

The primary goals of the pilot will be to log identities and manifestation-level descriptions of:

  • People associated with Delaware politics and history, particularly those who do not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements but can still be linked to the offices they hold/held;
  • People with monographs published through the University of Delaware Press;
  • Scholars at the University of Delaware who make significant contributions to scholarship through peer-reviewed journals but lack extensive monograph publishing characteristic of a traditional authority record.

Timeline edit

The projected initial timeline for the PCC/Wikidata Pilot Project is one year. This section will be updated over time to reflect changes and increasingly specific information.

Potential Outcomes edit

  • Increase visibility and accessibility of research connected to the University of Delaware as well as to the history and politics of the state of Delaware, especially for those limited by notability criteria elsewhere;
  • Increase awareness of linked data trends and practices for University of Delaware information workers;
  • Establish local workflows and documentation to contribute to a growing interest and involvement in various wiki-related initiatives;
  • Augment existing name authority work performed by staff at the University of Delaware.
