A WikiProject to connect University of Connecticut people, places, and things with Wikidata.

UConn Wikidata Working Group

edit

The UConn Wikidata Working Group meets virtually (typically once or twice a month) to determine standards, add and edit items, and share questions.

Since our group is so new, we anticipate that this project page will expand as our project progresses.

Background

edit

The UConn Wikidata Working Group (and corresponding UConn WikiProject) was formed in June 2020 with the purpose of connecting UConn-related people, places, and things with Wikidata. Our WikiProject is part of the PCC Wikidata Pilot

Aim and Scope

edit

The purpose of WikiProject UConn is to establish unique Wikidata items for current and past UConn faculty, departments, schools, colleges, and campuses using data models and standards produced by the UConn Wikidata Working Group. By adding and enhancing UConn-related Wikidata content, our intended aim is to expand awareness of faculty and university scholarship and output.

As of Summer 2022, we have created or edited entities within Wikidata for most of UConn's departments. We have begun to add or edit entities for historical faculty and are now building SPARQL queries to highlight UConn's scholarly output.

Timeline

edit
  • Fall 2021: Add and edit Wikidata items for remaining UConn, UConn Health, and UConn Law faculty members
  • Spring 2022: Develop SPARQL queries to highlight research and scholarly output at UConn, UConn Health, and UConn Law
