Not a qualifier

The proposal includes the possibility to use this property on France national rugby union team (Q518116) to point to French Rugby Federation (Q1479321). I have thus removed the constraint that required the property to be used as a qualifier. Thierry Caro (talk) 23:58, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Representing individuals

There's no apparent reason this property should not be used for representation of individuals, e.g. in a lawyer–client relationship. If no one opposes, I intend to revise the description and constraint accordingly. Swpb (talk) 14:08, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Better examples needed

The current example is:

United States representative (Q13218630) → Republican Party (Q29468)

But the elected official doesn't represent his party; he is a member of it. He represents his constituency, but I think there is a Property for that already. Better examples are needed in order to ensure this Property is being used correctly. Senator2029 06:11, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Inappropriate use of this property

On 2023-09-26 relation (Q203066) was [edited to state thatit represents (P1268) relation (Q930933)}. while atthe same timethe statement that the former is a subclass of (P279) of the latter wasgiven deprecatedrank/ (reason given: "wrong property" no less, by a new editor changing statement). Saying that an n-ary relation "represents" a more generic relation seems a bit nonsensical to me, like saying that a four-wheeled vehicle"represents"a more generic vehicle with an arbitrary (unspecified) number of wheels. Besides it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the kind of representation by people or symbols discussed in the proposal for this property. ---SM5POR (talk) 18:42, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

instance of suggestion: transitive Wikidata property (Q18647515)

The transitive Wikidata property (Q18647515) is a subclass of Wikidata property (Q18616576) and should be the correct class for this property.

If this is correct, can someone with proper edit rights change this? TimBorgNetzWerk (talk) 10:18, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Please explain by example how "represents"can possibly be a transitive relation. If a symbol(such as the Apple logo) represents the Apple corporation, what represents he logo, and does that thing thereby represent the Apple corporation too, indirectly? --SM5POR (talk) 11:41, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
