The genus honors Vicki Ann Funk (1947–2019), a Senior Research Botanist and Curator at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. She was a passionate advocate for botany, mainly in the systematics of Compositae, and an inspiring person, always generous and creative. The scientific community recently lost a brilliant and supportive woman. (English)
