However, my detailed study on this plant suggested me that this plant is actually most close to Eulalia Kunth (this genus had been included in Pollinia by Bentham, Hooker, and Stapf, but I think it should be treated as a different genus as Kunth did). The plant is similar to Eulalia in its narrow and linear-shaped leaves, lower leaf sheaths covered with fluffy hairs, catkins with long soft hairs, and the second glume with awn, but is quite distinguished from Eulalia by its glabrous inflorescences and peduncles. Also, structure of the catkins is closed to Spodiopogon (rather than Eulalia). Therefore, I here propose a new genus Eulaliopsis for the plant, and described it as Eulaliopsis angustifolia (Trinius) Honda. This plant is found also in Taiwan. Japanese name for the plant is “Watagaya (Cotton thatch) (English)
