User:Jneubert/GND errors
Errors in the Integrated Authority File (Q36578) (GND), such as duplicates, can be solved only in GND itself.
Persons edit
Follows a process which has been worked out between the German Wikipedia, the German National Library (DNB) and the Bavarian State Library (BSB): Entries in a current list at w:de:Wikipedia:GND/Fehlermeldung, archived monthly, with a description of the process on top (in German). For persons born after 1850, there is a backlog of roughly two years.
Subjects / Corporate Bodies edit
User:Kolja21 has provided most of the following information in a discussion in October 2018 (in German).
- For Wikimedians, there is no fixed process like the one for persons.
- Error messages can be directed to the DNB. Unfortunately, there seems to be no email address for error messages by the general public. There are, however, lists of contact persons for the different fields of the GND.
- A large number of duplicates in GND (> 1600) had resulted from the merge of Corporate Bodies Authority File (Q872551) (GKD), Name Authority File (Q261226) (PND) and Subject Headings Authority File (Q897080) (SWD) in 2012. Of these, about 800 had been merged in October 2018. In the German Wikipedia, the category w:de:Kategorie:Wikipedia:Veraltete Normdaten keeps track of known cases. Additionally, corrections are in w:de:Benutzer:Wurgl/Fehler GND.
- If duplicates exist, links from Wikipedia and Wikidata (via GND ID (P227)) should be created to the expected "surviving" record ("Gewinnerdatensatz"), according to the following rules:
- For locations and territorial units ("Gebietskörperschaften"), the record originating from SWD should survive.
- For corporate bodies and congresses, the record originating from GKD should survive.
