Description

La paroisse Saint Sébastien a été créée le 21 novembre 1593 suite à la construction de la Ville Neuve de Nancy, par décision du Duc de Lorraine, Charles III. Une chapelle "provisoire" est construite en trois mois pendant l’année 1603 par le premier curé Jean Maréchaudel. Elle durera cependant plus d’un siècle. En 1682, une première tour est édifiée (celle de gauche en regardant la façade). La chapelle provisoire, devenue délabrée et dangereuse, est finalement démolie en 1719. Le 20 juillet 1720, sous le règne du duc Léopold, la première pierre de l’église actuelle est posée. La toiture fut posée en 1725 et l’ensemble terminé en 1731. La face principale de l'église a été récemment restaurée.
