Summary

Description
English: The Trikkandiyur Shiva temple is a mid 9th century Hindu temple complex with many shrines. The main shrine is an apsidal floor plan temple dedicated to Shiva and faces east. Like Kalasamharamurti temple of Triprangode, it is a dvitala (two storeyed) apsidal vimana built on a granite upapitha. This temple upapitha is of the kapota-bandha type as described in Sanskrit texts on Hindu temple architecture. The temple has additional apsidal and square shrines in the complex, dedicated to Vishnu, Bhagavathy, Sastha and others.
