Description
English: The Chemmanthitta Siva temple, also called the Chemmanthitta Mahadeva temple, is a circular plan Hindu temple north of Thrissur, Kerala. The site is pre-12th century, with restorations and repaintings through the 17th-century.

The Shiva temple sites on an adhisthana with a bhitti built with laterite blocks. Above it is the classical Kerala-style wooden superstructure. This vimana is ekatala, and the roof is covered with copper sheets. The notable aspects of this temple include the entrance gate, the gopura gateways and the prakara wall built from laterite, the stepped water tank, and the murals on the sanctum wall.

The paintings in the garbhagriya include all major Hindu traditions. These include Nataraja, Rama (Vishnu avatar), Mohini, Asana Vishnu, Krishna (Vishnu avatar), Yashodara, Venogopala, Narasimha (Vishnu avatar), Sadashiva, Dakshinamurti, Durga, Kiratarjuniyam, Umamahesvara and others.
