Description An example of transitional style between the classically-influenced "Regency" fashions of the 1810s and the more incipiently Victorian styles of the second half of the 1820s — an 1823 engraving of a ball dress (with a diaphanous overskirt that can be lifted for certain dance moves, such as the "pas d'été", see Image:Quadrille-Ete-Lebas-ca1820.jpg).
