The view exhibitsan ItaHan scene, and offers, on the left, a pile of rocks whichextend into the extreme distance ; a few bushes and light treesgrow on their sterile sides, and a gentle cascade foams at theirbase, and extends along a portion of the foreground. On theopposite side are two herdsmen and a boy, one of the former isseated on a bank, while the other, having a staff in his hand,stands in conversation with him: beyond these is a man on anass, accompanied by another on foot, who is driving a ladenass over a causeway, leading to a pass on the rocks. Theglowing warmth of sunset is diffused throughout the scene.1 ft. 8 in. by 2 ft 2 in.—F. Recently imported from Holland, 1835.
