Description
Drie Hollandse walvisvaarders varen in de Poolzee tussen walrussen en ijsschotsen. De bemanning jaagt op walvissen, terwijl ze zich de ijsberen van het lijf proberen te houden. In Europa was de vraag naar walvistraan sterk gestegen, omdat het een goede vervanger bleek voor plantaardige oliën waar kaarsen, smeermiddelen, lampolie en zeep van werden gemaakt.
