English: To further Muslim-Hindu understanding Akbar ordered the Mahabharata and other classic Hindu texts to be translated into Persian, the court language. This manuscript may have been commissioned by Akbar’s commander-in-chief, ‘Abd ur-Rahim Khankhanan.
