Description
From the Ramesseum, western Thebes. One of a pair set up in the king's mortuary temple. The granite is naturally two colours, and was worked deliberately to draw a distinction between the head and body. The hole in the chest appeared before AD 1817, may have been made by Napoleon's expedition trying to remove the statue.
