English: Carved in ivory, these figurines depict Vishnu's 10 'avatars' from Hindu Mythology. This artifact, which is displayed in the National Museum (New Delhi) is from around late 18th Century south India. Representing Hindu god Vishnu's ten major avatars (from top). Matsya; Kurma; Varaha; Narasimha; Vamana; Parashurama; Rama; Balarama (lowest line left center with club); Krishna (lowest line right center with whip) and Kalki Image taken by Noman.
