Magyar: Önarckép allegóriákkal
Svenska: Konstnären själv i mitten med allongeperuk, med krita håller han på att skissa upp ett nytt motiv på duken i bildkanten. På hans vänstra sida står Pictura (Måleriet) med blottat bröst som en anspelning på målarkonstens fruktbarhet; med ena handen sträcker hon fram palett och penslar till konstnären, den andra handen på hans axel som uppmuntran till nya verk. På hans högra sida står Inventio (Fantasin) i en huvudbonad med vingar som symboliserar konstnärskapets upphöjda strävan; hon håller fram ett papper med text på latin som beskriver en hovmålares uppgift: "Att måla majestäternas odödliga berömmelse". Tavlan är förmodligen beställd av Hedvig Eleonora, åtminstone har den hängt i hennes audiensrum på Drottningholm. |
