Description
Español: La obra representa la Asunción de la Virgen María en cuerpo y alma a los Cielos. Obra muy significativa del gusto de Cajés por su colorido refinado, las formas de sus figuras son aún manieristas siendo su técnica libre y suelta. El rompimiento luminoso, en el que sitúa la corona de ángeles que hacen coro a la Virgen, evoca su paso por Italia y el contacto que pudo tener con artistas del ambiente clasicista próximos a Lanfranco. En ella también aparecen sus característicos angelotes rollizos y mofletudos y la mórbida suavidad con la que modela sus figuras, tiñendo siempre sus rostros de una lechosa blancura que recuerda métodos próximos a Correggio, artista por el que debió sentir especial interés, según se desprende de alguna copia excelente que pintó. Según la fecha que aparece, sería la primera obra conocida de su extensa produción.
