Gaetano and Oginssanti, as well as inthe Poggio Imperiale. Quite primitive in conception andrendering, this circular panel is most interesting in the com-position of the Virgin kneeling before the Holy Child, who, quite nude, reclines on the ground. Beside Him the infantSt. John holding a cross, and in the background, in front ofa stable, leaning on a saddle, is Joseph. To the left a formallandscape stretches away, showing a valley and many trees. One cannot but be impressed with the earnestness of thepainter and the loving care bestowed on every detail, thethoughtful, maternal expression on the face of the Mother, and the infantile purity of the Son of Man.
