English: Former lifting bridge, River Barrow. Ferrymountgarrett Bridge (Mountgarrett Bridge on the OS map) spans the River Barrow about two miles north of New Ross. The Barrow is navigable up to Athy and is increasing in popularity for pleasure boating. It was once used by commercial traffic and the bridge lifted to allow barges to pass. It is not now in working order.
