17th-century portrait painting of women, with Not identified, Unspecified, Unmentioned, UnknownUnknown or AnonymousUnknown author artist, and missing year.
English: "The look on the French general’s face peering out of the picture is stern and at the same time melancholic. The painter has captured the harsh facial features and the greying hair as well as the white taffeta sash across the breastplate with precision. This portrait was originally thought to depict the famous Marshal Turenne. However, this identification as well as the former attribution to Philippe de Champaigne no longer hold true." [1]
