Description
Nederlands: Jan Blanken (1755-1838) is gekleed in het uniform van Inspecteur-Generaal van de Waterstaat. Hij draagt de ordetekenen behorende bij (van links naar rechts) de Orde van de Rode Adelaar van Pruisen, de Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw en de Orde van het Legioen van Eer. Op de achtergrond zijn waarschijnlijk de Willemssluizen in Amsterdam afgebeeld. De Willemssluizen vormen de toegang tot het Noord-Hollands Kanaal, dat in 1824 gereed kwam en een van de bekenste werken was van de waterbouwkundige Blanken. De sluizen waren vernoemd naar de opdrachtgever koning Willem I.
