English: Iblis, disguised as a cook, has captivated King Zahhak with his delicacies and is permitted to kiss his shoulder as a reward. Two ravening snakes immediately sprout from his shoulders, which must be fed on the brains of noble youths. From the Shahnamah of Shah Tahmasp. Text copied in a superior nasta‘liq script, headings in riqa‘; with 22 lines to the page, arranged in 4 columns, two to a couplet; headings generally occupying the space of 2 couplets. 47 x 32cm (folio)
