Summary

Description
English: Korean Joseon Dynasty painting called ‘Toseokhwa’ (도석화), paintings of Buddhist and Taoist themes, King Mu of Zhou visits the queen mother of the west. This type of painting often uses lavish colours to narrate the festive story, and represents the hope for eternal youth. This type of screen was used as a backdrop for joyous occasions (birth, wedding, 60th birthday…). See the Gyeonggi Provincial Museum’s ‘Yojiyeondo’ as a reference. Also, the paintings present similar features and details to a folding screen called ‘One Hundred Children Folding Screen, in the collection of the Ewha Womans University Museum.
