Description
English: Vilhelm Hammershøi’s landscapes often, as here, lack people. Instead his vision is focused on a few prominent features – the curved shapes of the fields, echoed by the rounded hills and verdant copses. Together with the white summer clouds, the landscape offers a sense of unimpeded, billowing rhythm. In 1905 Hammershøi painted a series of landscapes from the district of Lejre on Zealand in Denmark, which included this painting.
