Description
English: This miniature on ivory was painted by Nicolas-Jean Otthenin, after a painting on a porcelain plaque by Étienne-Charles Le Guay, first husband of the sitter Marie Victoire Jaquotot and himself a very successful painter. Signed 'Nas. Otthenin.' (lower left), no date.
Otthenin also painted an oval version, signed and dated 1817, which was in the D. David-Weill collection (Paris, inv. no. 377) and was sold from the collection of Sir Charles Clore by Sotheby's (London) on November 10, 1986 (lot 43). (see source.)
