This was a study for Ancher's painting Gamle, der skal hæve deres Alderdomsunderstøttelse, venter paa at Kontoret bliver lukket op (Old people, who need to collect their old age benefit, are waiting for the office to be opened). The experts at Bruun Rasmussen wrote that Ancher made another version of the scene, which is now at Skagens Museum as no. 841.
