Description
The story goes that Michael Ancher saw a photo of the family gathered for Christmas 1900, and decided to turn it into a painting. On that photo were women of the Brøndum family, but also Anna Ancher's two brothers, Degn and John, and Michael Ancher himself. On this sketch, the men have been removed. In the final painting, the silverware on the table was replaced by a Bible.
