Description

Nevermore Oeuvre de Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) 1897 Huile sur toile The Courtauld Gallery, Londres (Samuel Courtauld Trust) Don de Courtauld, 1932

L'oeuvre a été peinte lors du 2ème séjour de l'artiste à Tahiti. Le nu symbolise l'innocence perdue face à la colonisation française de l'île. Le corbeau est un oiseau de malheur qui participe à la morosité de la scène.

L'exposition présente la collection de l'industriel et mécène anglais Samuel Courtauld, l'une des plus significatives collections de peintres impressionnistes, rassemblés pour la première fois à Paris depuis 60 ans.
