Summary: This photograph of Lucile Petry Leone (1902-1999) was distributed when she retired in 1966 as Assistant Surgeon General and Chief Nurse Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service, where she had worked since 1941. Leone was the founding director of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps, which recruited and trained nurses during World War II.
