L'église fut érigée fin XIIe - début XIIIe siècle à l'emplacement d'une chapelle funéraire construite vers 1100 par les Seigneurs de l'Aigle. Elle a conservé deux vitraux classés au titre des monuments historiques, datant des années 1225-1250 déplacés dans la nef en 1906, une dalle funéraire du XIIIe siècle et du mobilier du XVIIIe sècle. Des fresques du XIVe siècle ont été mises au jour en 1996. Elles ornent les murs nord et ouest de l'église et représentent la Jerusalem céleste et seraient les plus anciennes de Normandie (sources : panneau signalétique près de l'église)
