Español: Según algunos autores esta obra, que muestra al príncipe visigodo San Hermenegildo en la prisión por negarse a abandonar el catolicismo y no retornar al arrianismo, acusa unas grandes deficiencias en su dibujo, en su esquema compositivo y en la actitud de los personajes. San Hermenegildo (564-585) era hijo del rey visigodo Leovigildo, y en el año 585 fue ejecutado en Tarragona por orden de su padre.
