Reason: There is no resemblance to the portraits of Francesco de' Medici painted by Justus Sustermans, which are well documented and still preserved in the state collections in Florence, at Palazzo Pitti. Francesco and his brothers all have the same very characteristic and highly recognizable physiognomy, which is not found in the portrait of this young man, among other things dressed in a fashion that suggests a date twenty years after Francesco de' Medici's death.
