Title
English: The Inquisition of St. George by the Emperor Diocletian
Description
English: This is a scene from the life cycle of the saint. George is a successful court commander. He was disappointed after the persecution of Christians and distributed his property among the poor. He proclaimed himself a Christian in the presence of the Emperor Diocletian. The scene is full of inner tension. George appears before the Emperor Diocletian full of confidence in his rightness. The emperor is sitting on the throne. Behind him, there is a figure of a guard. Diocletian tries to stop George with a gesture of his right hand. George raises his hand with a gesture known from ancient times as a gesture of appeal. His figure demonstrates confidence.
