English: Plantation house with driveway and garden
Nederlands: Aquarel. Oprijlaan naar de directeurswoning van Plantage Sarah in het Coronie-district. Het Coronie-district was het enige gebied waar de plantages aan de zeekust werden opgericht; elders gebeurde dat steevast op rivieroevers. Het gebied werd als eerste ingericht met plantages door de Engelsen en Schotten, in 1808, hetgeen de veel voorkomende Engelse namen verklaart.
Plantage Sarah had op het moment van de Emancipatie op 1 juli 1863 320 slaven in bezit. De eigenaar was Anthony Dessé, een absenteist, wat betekent dat hijzelf nooit aanwezig was op de plantage, maar vervangen werd door een directeur of opzichter.. Plantagehuis met oprijlaan en tuin |
