Title
Undated Gold Offcut
Description
English: Gold offcut. Strip of probably beaten gold sheet of thickness 0.3-0.7mm with cut edges and tapering towards narrower cut ends. The strip bears traces of about sixteen folds between its ends, though is now bent at only three of these sites. Accompanying material was of Roman date, c.80-350, and the object is accordingly to be submitted to the Treasure process at the finder's request, reference TBC. It is acknowledged that, without analysis to suggest its composition, the form alone is difficult to date, and might most often be expected to come from an assemblage of Roman to Early Medieval date. Suggested date: Unknown, Roman to Early Medieval, 43-1100.

Length (as found): 22.9mm, Width: 5.4mm, Thickness: 0.7mm, Weight: 1.53gms.
