Description
Español: La obra representa a los sarracenos siendo derrotados, y formaba parte del cuadro titulado Santa Clara detiene a los sarracenos a las puertas del convento de san Damián, que fue pintado por Juan de Valdés Leal entre 1652 y 1653 con destino al convento de santa Clara de Carmona. Sin embargo, en 1910 Jorge Bonsor compró la obra por 5.000 pesetas y dividió la pintura original en dos fragmentos para que pudieran adaptarse a un formato cuadrado, y de ahí que en la actualidad existan los cuadros de La derrota de los sarracenos y de La procesión de Santa Clara con la Sagrada Forma, que también se conserva en la Sala Capitular alta de la Casa consistorial de Sevilla, aunque otro pequeño fragmento de la obra oroginal de Juan de Valdés Leal sobrevive en la colección Juan March de Palma de Mallorca.
