Vendôme (Loir-et-Cher)

La rue Saint-Jacques et la chapelle Saint-Jacques.


Dès le XIIe siècle, la chapelle de l'hôpital de Saint-Jacques accueille des pèlerins car elle était une étape sur le chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle.

L'aspect actuel de style gothique flamboyant de la chapelle résulte des importants travaux de transformation des XVe siècle et XVIe siècle.

En 1623, les pères de l'Oratoire, en font la chapelle du collège situé à proximité.

Elle deviendra magasin militaire à la Révolution française, puis salle de spectacle.

En 1826, le collège des Oratoriens retrouve sa chapelle qui est rendue au culte.

Depuis 1982, la chapelle Saint-Jacques est devenue un établissement de la vie culturelle vendômoise, elle accueille des expositions et des concerts.
