English: Venerable Francis Leveson - Franciscan Friar - Imprisoned on false charges concerning the Titus Oates Plot. Came from an old Wolverhampton family and died from privations in gaol at the age of thirty four in 1680.
Four foot mahogany figure depicts him wearing the monk's habit tied around the waist with a cincture symbolising being girded with Christ and tied in three characteristic Franciscan knots which signify the vows of poverty, chastity amd obedience. Carved by Denis Parsons.
