Help talk:Navigating Wikidata

Commons edit

After mentioning that image files, etc. belong on Commons, it would be nice to say "See c:Commons:Project scope for a description of what content Commons accepts." I see the help page is marked up for translation, and I don't know the protocol, so I'm remarking this here rather than editing the page itself. - Jmabel (talk) 00:07, 9 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Links to Help:Content page for navigation edit

I see lacks a link in all Help pages to Help:Contents.--BoldLuis (talk) 00:32, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello dear @BoldLuis:,
You would have to wait for a response before modifying any pages. In your language, it is the Help link in the left menu. This link leads to the translated help page. For information, Wikidata is a project which uses the Translate tool. Any pages that you have edited later need to be marked for translation by a translation administrator. At the sight of your Global account information, you may not be used to it. Now your link will only land in English, while the link on the left will land in the right place, in the right language. So, I'm sorry to tell you, but your modifications are useless and disorganize the pages.
Best regards. —Eihel (talk) 03:04, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
For newbies, the navigation in the help pages is difficult (imagine for the first time users). In other sites and projects, a similar help header is used (I did not invented it). So, there would be an easy system to tell the newbie how to go to the main help content page. In any case, the solely existing of a help page is a big advance. Tnanks. On the other hand, a system to valorate the usability of the help pages by every user that reads it, must be included.--BoldLuis (talk) 09:39, 16 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I have tried the language system you said here. But it only links to the same page in other languages. The idea is link to the Help:Contents in different languages. Because this is the page in English, can begin with this. For other languages, it is the same template with the parameter "lang=" (ie lang=fr for French). It would link in the help page to Help:Contents/fr. It is only adding the / and the value in lang= (in this case, lang=fr). On the other hand, try to find a language in the language box it is difficult. I prefer to type in the page tittle "/fr" to go to the version in other language (French in this case)--BoldLuis (talk) 09:50, 16 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
