Please note that for SBN author ID (P396) (italian libraries authority control code):

This script doesn’t add values to items, it just generates a link based on the value. On Property talk:P396 is a regular expression of the correct value. Performance

I suggest the following changes: 1. A simpler regular expression that does the same.

I've also problems with your gadget since the latest changes. On some pages (items with ACs maybe, and the watchlist) this gadget stops working of other user scripts. After deactivating AC.js it works fine. The only error I got is "Exception thrown by ext.gadget.AuthorityControl", using Opera 12.

Oh, I'm sorry: I noticed just one minute ago, that the problem was not - or not only - the AC gadget. Deactivating it helped with the bug in the extended watchlist, but not on items. Gadget not working again

With the latest version of Firefox (Windows and Mac OS) and Safari (Mac OS), the gadget doesn't display the links (see La Grande Vadrouille (Q487789) or La Lèque menhir (Q1799017) for example). Do you have the same issue? — Ayack (talk) 18:01, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

I was trying to debug this, but I don't know how to debug the code loaded for a gadget enabled in preferences. I can debug it if I load it using importScript('MediaWiki:Gadget-AuthorityControl.js'); from my Special:MyPage/common.js instead. However, the problem does not arise in this case, so I cannot localize it. At least, it leads to a workaround. With the Merge gadget, I had a similar problem, which manifested itself the other way around, so I could track it down and fix it by explicitly loading a forgotten dependency. I created a quick implementation of AuthorityControl which reads the URL for the current properties from this property: User:Fomafix/MediaWiki:Gadget-AuthorityControl.js (diff).
