Feature Request: Select interwikis to save

In some languages (enwiki especially), many articles exist that might not exist in other languages. In some of these, the pages are redirects to sections of other pages. As this counts as a duplicate link, Wikidata won't let you save it. It'd be awesome for these cases if we could be presented with a javascript popup window with a list of interwiki links, and checkboxes. This would then allow us to import most of the links, ignoring ones that cause conflicts. Thanks! Reedy (talk) 00:05, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Bug: Other languages

Hi Tpt, I like your srcipt very much but there is a bug at the languages. I don't know why but I think $.inArray isn't working. As a solution you could add a seperate method like this:

The $.inArray returns the index of the element in the array, not a boolean value. So you just needed to use if( $.inArray( lang, ['en', ...] ) !== -1 ). This confusion is somewhat common. Helder 15:10, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Please consider implementing these changes:

• Reduce msg duplication by setting a fallback for pt-br = pt;
• Set lang = en if i18nData[ lang ] is not defined, instead of creating a new function which duplicates functionality from $.inArray (which by the way returns the index not a boolean value) and duplicating the keys of the i18nData object;
• Use .empty() instead of .html('')
• Use $.removeSpinner from module 'jquery.spinner' instead of the deprecated removeSpinner from wikibits
• Create a common onApiError to be called on API erros (instead of duplicating the same code)
• Use the methods .done and .fail (promise interface) instead of the old success/error
• Fix indentation (use tabs instead of spaces)

feature request

1-when user made an item s/he can not use this tool directly after Special:CreateItem with out adding home wiki link in my opininon

• it should use page's label that user typed in Special:CreateItem as page name and set user's default language as wiki's language code
• if user's language code doesn't have that page it asks for other language's code

(i.e. i want to make item for article test25 at the first I should go to Special:CreateItem after pressing create when i click on Import interwiki it doesn't allow me to select wiki's prefix and the combobox is empty.)

2-In comboBox please remove wiki and it has only the wiki code because for page which has many items finding specific wiki is confusing!

3-is it possible to check page's namespace if their namespace are not the same tool doesn't import that pages. i.e like this

Feature Request: Selective link addition

There are some articles which have distinct pages (versions, models of things etc) on some wikis, but they don't on others. They are often redirects to sections etc.

Would it be possible to add a way so given a list of IW links/pages pulled from a current article, the user can selectively select the ones they want to import?

Warning about a bug

Hi everybody, I've noticed a little bug while I'm updating labels from interwiki: in es.wiki there are some article in ns "Anexo:" and this word remain in the label when you update it. I think it's better to avoid it, otherwise users have to remove it manually and likely most of them will forget it in Spanish labels. Can anyone fix that bug? Thanks. “Anexo:” is an own namespace (104) and therefore not a bug of the gadget. Please start a discussion in order reach consensus on the label of such pages. The result might then be implemented. --Leyo 18:28, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Parentheses that should be included

Would it be possible to have some way to make the gadget not ignore parentheticals and such? This came up on Q3913001, which on about half the 'pedias has its number in parentheses: a user updated the links, but the label saved as simply Wikipedia, not (274301) Wikipedia (I mean, one could argue that "Wikipedia" is the most precise label name, but that's beside the point). I was thinking maybe a by-default-checked option that would say like "Ignore parentheticals in title", or something like that. Look, I wish to import interwikis with the script (e.g. at Q9432878). So I press "Import interwiki", after that window opens to select. I press drop-down box with the interwiki list. It has such options: "be-x-old", "cs (чэская)" and "sk (славацкая)". Adding prefix wikipedia before langlinks causes keyboard shortcuts no more works - before was only need to click d - and then select from few languages, sometimes was wanted as first - but now I must roll through list. For every item where Wikidata contains a link to a Commons page the following error-message is displayed each time you try to use this Gadget: 'Save error: unknown language: commons'.

Unfortunately my js-knowledge is unsufficient ot debug this iisue further.

issue with imports from language gsw

Hello,

as soon as I try to launch this gadget with the option from 'gsw.wikipedia (Swiss German)' I have the impression to enter in an endless-loop and I had to interrupt the gadget by leaving the selected item. As soon as I return to the same item and select any other project to start from everything is fine again. For this reason I guess I can exclude a bad behavior from my computer. This is quite annoying as unfortunatetly gsm.wikipedia is quite often listed as first project. In order to check this issue you may try to launch the function Import Interwiki for item Q3257.

Since yesterday every time I try to use this gadget by clicking on 'Import Interwiki' I get the error message 'The selected wiki is unknown!' As an example I tried it on Q50370 and despite of which language a chose to import from e.g. en, ace, ... I get each time this error message. Bug and suggestion

Two things:

• The following error message appears in de UI:

  Fehler beim Speichern: The link [https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ung%C3%BCento es:Ungüento] is already used by item Q4004659. You may remove it from Q4004659 if it does not belong there or merge the items if they are about the exact same topic.

  For some reason, instead of the link to the Wikipedia article (in this case es:Ungüento) only the source code is shown.
• I would highly appreciate if all conflicts would be shown together, not just one. In the case above two conflicts had been fixed before.

Import from wiktionary - problem with ()

When I try to import interwiki for categories from wiktionary, there is sometimes problem, taht this gadget automatically crops name Category:Verb (english) -> Category:Verb and Category:Verb (german) -> Category:Verb too. And now I have here two categories with same label and import is not possible in second case. It would be fine if there is possibility to not remove part in (). I came here to mention the same thing. I think it would make sense to only remove information in brackets from main namespace pages because I've had the same problem with categories in other projects. Maybe we should just check for colons in the page name? Main namespace pages with colons and disambiguation information are probably quite rare. - Nikki (talk) 19:22, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

I did some queries to look at existing page names: In this query, I selected 3 million sitelinks (of 57 million in total, the query service isn't fast enough to do all of them without timing out) and filtered it to only include the ones containing a colon (followed by something other than a space) and brackets. I currently get 2721, over 90% of those are categories and templates and I only see 4 main namespace pages where I would definitely remove the bracketed text. - Nikki (talk) 12:37, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

I would like to support the same issue/bug. In order to illustrate the issue i would like to give an exemple illustrationg the effort to solve the issue. when I tried to use this gadget on Q7135307 with the first try I got an error message Item Q32001720 already has label "Kategorie:Volleyballtrainer" associated with language code de, using the same description text. in order to solve this I have to change in item Q32001720 the label for language de, once this is done I will get another error message with a different item till i will have gone through all category items for Volleyball trainers. This can easily be 10, 20 or more items to be changed before I will be able to finalize the import of labels for item Q7135307. Save error: Unknown site: nbwiki

On various items when using this gadget I get the following error message: 'Save error: Unknown site: nbwiki' as an example i would like to cite: Q42678 where i tried to use this gadget by clicking in the side menu on 'Import interwiki' and then choosing the language da.wikipedia (Danish) I get the rror message 'Save error: Unknown site: nbwiki' when i then check on da:Makeni I do not find any link to nbwiki. I get this error message on various items and for various languages.
