How do deal with other than simple Arabic numerals numbering?Edit
How do deal with books with other forms of pagination (Q783209)?
- Roman numerals (for the front matter),
- folium rectum and versum numbering,
- column numbering and
- letter numbering?
Thanks for any help! --Marsupium (talk) 16:53, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Marsupium: I have tentatively added several alternatives to allowed units constraint (Q21514353) (tipped-in page for plates, and Latin-numbered pages for, well, the obvious), which should hopefully fix this issue. Circeus (talk) 23:55, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Circeus: Thank you for that idea! Above it says: "DeltaBot does the following jobs: Remove units". And there are many templates using this property (see above). So I'm afraid it needs more than just changing the constraint. I'm not sure if it's the perfect solution, but perhaps the best we can get. Also, should we broaden the scope of the property and adapt the labels and aliases and also add column (Q2306599)? --Marsupium (talk) 08:30, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- Deltabot isn't a problem because unless I'm mistaken, it takes its cue from the property definition here, so the units as defined here don't trigger it. Circeus (talk) 16:20, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- What to do if a book has, for example, 200 pages numbered with arabic numbers and 10 pages numbered with roman numerals:
- number of pages (P1104) 200 page number of pages (P1104) 10 roman-numbered page
- OR
- number of pages (P1104) 210 page number of pages (P1104) 10 roman-numbered page?--Malore (talk) 02:32, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
- So far I've entered it as the first case (in bibliographical description, this would normally be given as 200+x os something along those lines). Circeus (talk) 11:04, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Circeus, Marsupium: Today I added P1104 statements to Q61976455 with units (Roman/Arabic) as described above, and DeltaBot removed the units within minutes. Do you think this should be reported as an error at User talk:DeltaBot? — Ipoellet (talk) 20:23, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
- Absolutely! I can't swear on it (I am no programmer), but unless I am mistaken, Deltabot will always delete any and all units (it's not even having hardcoded units, much less pulling them dynamically from the constraint), which is most certainly undesirable! The bot owner has removed that task from the bot now. While I'd prefer the bot checked against the constraint, this is also acceptable. Circeus (talk) 11:59, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Use on issue (Q28869365)Edit
Is the use of this property on issue (Q28869365) OK? It currently fails the type constraint, like on Supplement to The London Gazette 51981 (Q56057169). Ghouston (talk) 06:24, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- I added issue (Q28869365) as an allowed value on the constraint. Ghouston (talk) 23:50, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
Use on document (Q49848)Edit
Should this property be allowed on document (Q49848)? It currently fails the type constraint, like on number of pages (P1104) of Request for New Language Code Element [rgn] in ISO 639-3 (Q61685511). — Sascha (talk) 19:54, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
