Wikimedia projects edit

Should we expand the domain to include Wikipedia language edition (Q10876391)? --Infovarius (talk) 08:41, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

The question to ask might be if we can derive this from another property or not. If there a few items where we can't, should we list these rather as exceptions.

No please, absolutely not. The items about Wikimedia projects should just specify what language they are in, and that's it. If you need to figure out what directionality they use, you should query the item on a project to find out what language it is in, then query the language to find out what script it uses. Putting this (and related) property in the items for Wikimedia projects is a completely backwards approach. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 20:41, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I added an introduction at Wikidata:Database_reports/WMF_projects. Don't hesitate to correct/improve/expand it.

Request one-of constraint (Q21510859) extension edit

I request that the one-of constraint (Q21510859) list for this script directionality (P1406) be extended with two new script directionality (Q12055124) items:

vertical right-to-left (Q105395084) (applicable for sinograms (Q8201), Han)
vertical left-to-right (Q105395085) (applicable for Mongolian (Q1055705))

These are more specific than top-to-bottom (Q17321917); talk, which does not specify column direction (rtl, ltr?).

Existing top-to-bottom (Q17321917) does not need change (though items might be edited into a different value, as noted applicable). -DePiep (talk) 20:11, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
