French highways

Pour les autoroutes françaises, doit on utiliser cette propriété pour indiquer le réseau concessionnaire ? ex: w:fr:AREA, w:fr:Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône ou w:fr:Société des autoroutes du Nord et de l'Est de la France ? Ske (talk) 16:14, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Meaning

I am not clear about the exact meaning of this property. The value is often a "list of" page, which does not make much sense. And what exactly is a highway system ? I know that the phrase, is used "Interstate Highway System", but is there any technical definition, or any benefit over using part of ? --Zolo (talk) 21:46, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

I agree, this property is not well-defined. And in many cases not used correctly (value of a 'list' article which is not desirable). And why not use the generic "part of" property in case a road is part of a specific 'system'. 139.63.60.122 13:23, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

By now the property has become even messier. Per its current description, constraints and usage, the value is either a network of roads, or road type for an individual road. These usage cases are clearly distinct, road of particular type can be part a network of roads of different types. Also different labels apply to these use cases. I think that property should restored so that road type is omitted from description/aliases and constraints. Road type of an individual road can be given as P31 value, or separate property can be considered for it. Also, "road network" may be more clear as property label, instead of US-centric "highway system". 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:A8E0:C965:57F9:B464 06:25, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

I have upgraded the property so that it now officially covers all types of ground transport. It already ha bike lanes and the likes so it is clearer now. Tram routes, metro lines, etc. should all come down to this property eventually. Thierry Caro (talk) 03:09, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
